Rush bring back Klotz

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Rapid City Rush announced that Garrett Klotz has re-signed with the team for the 2018-19 season.

Klotz ended in Rapid City last year after playing earlier in the season with the Quad City Mallards, Jacksonville Icemen and Kansas City Mavericks. He began the season with the Mallards, appearing in 11 games and registering 26 penalty minutes before playing in another 15 games with the Icemen, where he had an assist and 57 penalty minutes. After playing in a trio of games with the Mavericks, adding another assist and 14 penalty minutes, he finished with the Rush and earned two assists and 56 penalty minutes.

A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Klotz is in his 11th season as a professional. In his career spanning over a decade, Klotz has played 469 games in the American Hockey League, ECHL, Central Hockey League and Elite Ice Hockey League, compiling 77 points (30g-47a) and 1,116 penalty minutes. In the 2013-14 CHL season, Klotz suited up with his current head coach, Daniel Tetrault, and captured the CHL Ray Miron Presidents' Cup championship. Prior to playing professionally, Klotz played over 100 games in three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Red Deer Rebels and Saskatoon Blades, and was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round (66th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
