Stingrays add rookie forward Brauer

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and AHL’s Hershey Bears, have agreed to terms with forward Bo Brauer for the 2018-19 season.

The native of Edina, Minnesota will begin his professional career with the Stingrays after completing a four-year career at the University of Notre Dame that included back-to-back trips to the NCAA’s Frozen Four in 2017 and 2018.

Brauer totaled collegiate career-highs in games played and scoring with the Fighting Irish during his senior season, appearing in 35 games and posting eight points on five goals and three assists to go along with 38 shots on goal and a +2 rating. Brauer was in the lineup for both the team’s 4-3 victory over Michigan in the National Semifinal on April 5 as well as the 2-1 loss to Minnesota-Duluth in the National Championship game on April 7 and scored a goal in the Big Ten Tournament Championship win over Ohio State on Mar. 17.

Over the last four years, Brauer has seen action in 64 games and scored 13 points (8g-5a) with 43 penalty minutes and a +5 rating. The 23-year-old was also honored with the Charles "Lefty" Smith Coaches Award by the team’s staff at the conclusion of his senior year.

Before arriving in South Bend, Brauer played junior hockey with the Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Hockey League during the 2013-14 season, scoring 35 points (19g-16a) in 56 games.
