Duluth, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced the team has signed Anthony Collins and Logan Nelson for the 2019-20 season. The two were teammates with the Indy Fuel last season.
The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins and the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins.
Collins enters his seventh season int the ECHL. He began his pro career in the Southern Professional Hockey League, playing for Mississippi Surge in the 2012-13 season. Collins joined the ECHL for the first time the following season in 2013-14, playing for the South Carolina Stingrays and would return to them the next year in 2014-15. He also split time that year with Quad City and went to the playoffs for the second time in his pro career, before rejoining the Mallards for the for 2015-16 season. He spent the next two seasons with Rapid City before joining the Fuel in 2018-19.
Nelson has spent all five years of his professional career in the ECHL. The 25-year-old Rogers, Minnesota native was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. His run as a pro began by playing the first two years of his career with the Quad City Mallards. In his first season in 2014-15 he had 28 points (16g-12a) in 43 games. He started the 2016-17 season with Wichita before finishing the year with Rapid City tallying 25 points (10g-15a) in 31 games played with the Rush. In 2017-18, he spent time with Norfolk, Orlando, Fort Wayne and Indy.
