Growlers re-sign captain Melindy

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced that they have re-signed team captain James Melindy for the 2019-20 season.

Melindy appeared in 55 games last season with the Growlers where he picked up 16 points (4g-12a) and recorded 185 penalty minutes. The Goulds, Newfoundland native was a steady presence on the Growlers blueline throughout the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs and recorded one assist in 23 postseason games.

The 25-year-old was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the third round (88th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
