Johnston returns to Growlers blue line

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland – The Newfoundland Growlers, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced that they have re-signed defenseman Garrett Johnston to a contract for the 2019-20 season.

Johnston appeared in 39 games with Newfoundland last season. picking up 19 points (2g-17a) and recording 10 penalty minutes. In the Kelly Cup Playoffs, the Winnipeg native skated in 23 games, tallying seven points (1g-6a).

The24-year-old started the 2018-19 season with the Birmingham Bulls of the Southern Professional Hockey League appearing in 21 games and tallying 12 points (1g-11a) before signing with the Growlers.
