Walleye bring back Schmidt, add Boeing

Toledo, Ohio –Defenseman Connor Schmidt and forward Brett Boeing have agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2019-20 season.

The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.

Schmidt joined the Walleye in December last season after appearing in 16 games for Huntsville in the Southern Professional Hockey League where he scored 13 points (9g-4a) and added 38 penalty minutes. With Toledo, the 25-year-old skated in 27 games with four points (2g-2a) to go along with 38 penalty minutes. Prior to his pro career, Schmidt spent four years in college with two years at Ferris State University and one each at Arizona State University and Utica College. In 83 colligate games, he totaled 22 points (5g-17a) and 120 penalty minutes.

Boeing joins Toledo after completing his college career at UMass-Amherst that included career highs this past season with 41 games played, 10 goals and nine assists while playing as a +12. His efforts helped the Minutemen to the Hockey East regular-season championship. He started his college ccareer playing one season at Michigan Tech in 2015-16. In total, he appeared in 101 college games with 37 points (14g-23a) and 52 penalty minutes.
