GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Adirondack Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League's Utica Comets, have announced that the club has signed forward Ryan Francis to a contract for the 2024-25 season.
Francis, 22, joins the Thunder after splitting last season between the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the AHL’s Ontario Reign. In 31 regular-season games with Greenville last season, the Halifax, Nova Scotia native recorded 21 points (9g-12a) while adding two points (1g-1a) in 19 games with the Reign. During the 2022-23 season, Francis had 47 points (23g-24a) in 57 games with the Trois-Rivieres Lions and one assist in four AHL games with Laval.
In 88 total ECHL games with Trois-Rivieres and Greenville, Francis has totaled 68 points (32g-36a). Prior to his professional career, he played five seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Saint John and Cape Breton and had 253 points (86g-167a) in 269 regular-season games.
Francis was selected in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames.
