GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Greenville Swamp Rabbits, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings, announced that Joe Leahy has re-signed with the Swamp Rabbits for the 2024-25 season.
Leahy returns to the Swamp Rabbits for his second full season with the team. He led all Greenville blue-liners with 27 points (9g-18a) and a +18 rating in 69 games last season.
Hailing from Waterloo, Ontario, Leahy has totaled 31 points (9g-22a) in 79 career games with the Swamp Rabbits. He made his professional debut with Greenville at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, recording four assists in 10 games and adding his first professional goal in six games during the 2023 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Prior to playing professionally, Leahy played four seasons of college hockey with the University of Vermont and Cornell University. He earned 25 points in 92 games at both schools, and helped Cornell to the 2020 ECAC regular-season championship. Leahy also skated two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Penticton Vees, winning the 2017 BCHL championship with the latter.
