Smedsrud back with Rush

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames, announced that Chaz Smedsrud is returning for the 2025-26 season.

Smedsrud, 27, joined the Rush in a trade from Allen on Oct. 28 and went on to finish fourth on the team with 41 points (12g-29a) in 68 games.

Smedsrud began his professional career with the Americans in March 2024 and made his debut on the road in Rapid City. He turned pro after a four-year collegiate career at Union College.

The native of Luverne, Minnesota grew up five hours east of Rapid City. At the high school level in Minnesota, Smedsrud averaged over three points per game for his career.
