Bison bring back Budgell

Bloomington, Ill. - The Bloomington Bison announced that the team has signed forward Brett Budgell to a contract for the 2025-26 season.

Budgell finished third in team scoring last season with 37 points (15g-22a) in 47 games. The St. John’s, Newfoundland native tied the team record with an eight-game point streak (4g,-7a) from Jan. 4-25, 2025, and holds the record for the longest assist streak, which included a helper in seven of those eight games. Budgell added four assists in 11 games with Hartford of the American Hockey League.

The 24-year-old has totaled 119 points (45g-74a) in 163 career ECHL games with Bloomington, Iowa and Newfoundland Growlers. He has skated in 30 career AHL games with Hartford and Iowa.
