KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced that forward Colton Young and defenseman Powell Connor have signed contracts for the 2025–26 season.
Young posted 25 points (12g-13a) in 40 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits last season, before landing with Norfolk at the 2025 ECHL Trade Deadline. The 27-year-old added six points (2g-4a) in 11 games down the stretch for the Admirals.
The Calgary, Alberta native broke into the professional ranks with Greenville in 2022-23, scoring four points (1g-3a) in four games. In the 2023-24 season, Young posted 16 points (6g-10a) for the Swamp Rabbits in 39 games while adding four points (2g-2a) in 19 games with Ontario of the American Hockey League.
Prior to turning pro, Young played four seasons at Colgate University, totaling 82 points (34g-48a) in 134 games. Young, an alternate captain for his senior campaign, also notched a goal in the ECAC Championship Game against Harvard en route to victory in March 2023. He finished his senior season with 28 points (11g-17a) while skating in all 40 games for the Raiders.
Connor joins the K-Wings after totaling 12 points (3g-9a) in 30 games with Reading over the previous two seasons.
The Chilliwack, British Columbia native returns to the state of Michigan, where he spent three seasons at Michigan State University from 2020-23, registering eight points (1g-7a) in 84 games. With the Spartans, Connor was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. He transferred to Canisius University for his senior season, leading the team with 79 blocked shots, ranking him third in the AHA and sixth nationally.
