Murashov makes NHL debut

Former Wheeling Nailers' goaltender Sergei Murashov became the 772nd former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday against Los Angeles.

Murashov is the fourth former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2025-26 season. He went 17-7-1 in 26 appearances with Wheeling in the 2024-25 season with one shutout, a 2.40 goals-against average - which ranked ninth in the league - and a .922 save percentage - which was tied for fifth.

A fourth-round selection (118th overall) of the Penguins in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Murashov has appeared in 23 career American Hockey League games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton where he has gone 17-5-0 with two shutouts, a 2.36 goals-against average and a save percentage of .918.
