Hayes makes NHL debut

Hayes makes NHL debut

Former Wheeling Nailers' forward Avery Hayes became the 778th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday at Buffalo.

Hayes is the 10th former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2025-26 season. He skated in one game with the Nailers during the 2023-24 season.

A native of Westland, Michigan, Hayes has totaled 74 points (42g-32a) in 120 career games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
