PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Mariners, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins and American Hockey League's Providence Bruins, announced the signing of forward Ryan McGuire for the 2026-27 season. McGuire originally joined the Mariners last March on loan from the AHL's Iowa Wild.
A native of Saint-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec, McGuire turned 24 in July. On March 18, he was re-assigned to the Mariners from the Iowa Wild, where he was signed to a two-way AHL contract. McGuire skated in 15 regular season games for the Mariners, registering two assists, and appeared in two playoff games.
Between the Iowa Heartlanders and Mariners, McGuire combined for 50 ECHL games in 2025-26, finishing with nine points (4g-5a). He appeared in two additional AHL games for the Iowa Wild.
In 2024-25, McGuire debuted with the Heartlanders and scored five goals in eight games before playing in all seven of their 2025 Kelly Cup Playoff contests. He played three seasons at Colgate University before finishing his college career at Northeastern. McGuire posted 47 points (23g-24a) in 148 career NCAA contests.
McGuire is the son of former NHL front office executive, coach and broadcaster, Pierre McGuire.
