K-Wings re-sign Kennedy, add Wendt

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo Wings, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced that the team has signed forwards Spencer Kennedy and Dylan Wendt to contracts for the 2026-27 season.

Kennedy, 25, is set to return to the K-Wings after putting up six points (1g-5a) with 104 penalty minutes in 26 games in 2025-26. The Lethbridge, Alberta native saw time with Kalamazoo and Norfolk in 2024-25, compiling four points (2g-2a) and 145 penalty minutes in 25 combined games. His rookie season was split between five teams: Reading (ECHL), Atlanta (ECHL), Roanoke (SPHL), Peoria (SPHL) and Pensacola (SPHL), totaling five points (2g-3a) with 178 penalty minutes in 46 games.

Prior to his professional career, Kennedy played two seasons of college hockey at Portage College, scoring 10 points (4g-6a) and adding 170 penalty minutes in 28 games. He made his pro debut with Roanoke late in the 2022-23 season, scoring three goals with 131 penalty minutes in 19 games.

Wendt, 25, is entering his third professional season. The Grand Haven, Michigan native had 21 points (9g-12a) in 30 games with Adirondack last season while adding three assists in 19 games with Utica of the American Hockey League. He made his pro debut with Utica late in the 2023-24 season, recording two points (1g-1a) in five games.

Prior to turning pro, Wendt spent three seasons (2021-24) at Western Michigan University, tallying 69 points (33g-36a) in 111 games.
