Kidney returns to Cyclones

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced that forward Liam Kidney has signed with the team ahead of the 2026-27 season. With his signing, Kidney will play in his first full professional season with the Cyclones.

Kidney, 25, appeared in 19 games with Cincinnati last season after the conclusion of his collegiate career at Acadia University. At the end of his initial stint with the Cyclones, Kidney recorded eight points (4g-4a) to conclude the 2025-26 campaign. Kidney recorded his first professional goal on March 21, 2026 against the Fort Wayne Komets and finished his season on a three-game point streak. 

Before the start of his pro career, Kidney logged 79 points (26g-53a) with the Acadia University Axemen. In his final season, he recorded a career-best 28 points (7g-21a) and finished second in scoring for the X-Men. At the junior level, Kidney played for four different teams in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, seeing time with the Cape Breton Eagles, Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Drummondville Voltigeurs and Rimouski Océanic. Over his five year QMJHL tenure, Kidney logged 80 points (31g-49a) over the span of 193 career games.
