Toledo defeats Kalamazoo in Game 7

Toledo defeats Kalamazoo in Game 7

The Toledo Walleye defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 3-1 in Game 7 of the Central Division Semifinals on Tuesday at the Huntington Center. Toledo advances to meet Fort Wayne, a 4 games to 1 winner over Quad City, in the Central Division Finals.

After a scoreless first period, the teams traded goals less than a minute apart in the second period as the Walleye's Kyle Bonis scored at 16:11 and the K-Wings' Charlie Vasaturo answered at 17:03. Evan Rankin gave Toledo the lead back 8:29 into the third period and Zach Nastasiuk extended the advantage to 3-1 just 37 seconds later.

Bonis (6g-5a) and Tyson Spink (4g-7a) both had 11 points in the series to lead the way for the Walleye. Peter Schneider scored a team-leading five goals for Kalamazoo while Cameron Darcy posted 10 points (3g-7a).

The Walleye improved to 3-2 all-time in Game 7s with the win, as home teams are now 28-11 in ECHL Game 7s.
