Eagles move on to Western Conference Finals

Eagles move on to Western Conference Finals

The Colorado Eagles advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in club history on Tuesday with a 4-3 win over the Allen Americans in Game 6 of the Mountain Division Finals.

Colorado will meet Toledo, a 4 games to 1 winner over Fort Wayne in the Central Division Finals, in the Western Conference Finals.

The Eagles' win ends the Americans' back-to-back reign as Kelly Cup champions.

Trailing 3-2 entering the final period, Colorado pulled even on Mason Geertsen's first goal of the postseason 35 seconds into the third period. In the closing moments, Matt Register unleashed a slapshot from the high slot with 1:09 remaining in regulation to give the Eagles the win.

Alex Belzile led Colorado in the series with five goals and eight points. Lukas Hafner went 3-2 with a 2.41 goal-against average in five games during the series, while Kent Simpson earned the win on Tuesday in the clinching game. Allen was led by Chad Costello's six points (3g-3a).
