McCarron re-signs with Everblades

ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward John McCarronfor the 2017-18 season.

The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

McCarron returns for a second season with the Everblades after posting 60 points (24g-36a) in 59 games during the 2016-17 season. McCarron was named to the 2017 ECHL All-Star Classic, but did not play in the game due to a January call-up to the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League. On Dec. 3, McCarron tied a club record scoring four goals in a game against the Orlando Solar Bears. He also recorded his second hat trick of the season on March 17 at South Carolina.

Prior to his time in Florida, the 25-year-old recorded 31 points (14g-17a) and 68 penalty minutes in 51 appearances with the Wheeling Nailers during the 2015-16 season. McCarron helped guide the Nailers to a Kelly Cup Finals appearance that spring collecting 23 points (11g-12a) with 42 penalty minutes in 25 postseason games.

The Macomb, Mich. native also made 12 appearances with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins during the 2015-16 season.
