Marto returns for fifth season with Eagles

Marto returns for fifth season with Eagles

WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced that they have re-signed defenseman Jake Marto for the 2017-18 season.

Marto notched a career-high 56 points (10g-46a) in 69 regular-season games with Colorado during the 2016-17 campaign, finishing third in the league’s Defenseman of the Year voting and earning a spot on the All-ECHL Second Team. He went on to generate 18 points (5g-13a) in 20 postseason games, helping the Eagles capture their first Kelly Cup championship. The Grand Forks, N.D. native has posted 124 points (23g-101a) in 218 total contests with Colorado, playing at a combined +37 during that time.

A two-time WCHA champion during his NCAA career at the University of North Dakota, Marto also enjoyed a two-year stint playing professionally in Europe. He collected 17 points in 51 games while playing for Sodertalje SK in Sweden during the 2013-14 campaign. He recorded 11 points in 49 games with the Graz 99ers in Austria in the 2014-15 campaign. In addition, Marto has also appeared in 14 AHL games with the St. John’s Ice Caps, posting three points.
