Nailers agree to terms with Carrier

WHEELING, W.Va. - The Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced the team has re-signed forward Alexandre Carrier for the 2017-18 season.

Carrier, 26, has played with the Nailers twice over the course of his five-year professional career, appearing in 10 games during the 2013-14 campaign, before suiting up for 17 contests last season. In his most recent stint, he recorded five points (1g-4a) and 21 penalty minutes. Wheeling was Carrier's third team in 2016-17, as he also saw action with the Utah Grizzlies and Orlando Solar Bears. Moving around is nothing new for the experienced forward, who has played in four different leagues - the AHL, ECHL, SPHL and CHL. All 18 of his AHL games came as a member of the Albany Devils. Last season, Carrier accumulated the highest point total of his pro career with 14, while 2015-16 was his biggest year for goals (5) and penalty minutes (108).

Prior to turning pro, the St-Elzear-de-Beauce, Quebec native played three seasons of junior hockey with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Val-d'Or Foreurs. His best season with the Foreurs took place in 2010-11, when he amassed 21 points (6g-15a) and 130 penalty minutes in 67 regular-season games, before chipping in with four points in four postseason matches. Carrier finished his time in Val-d'Or with 28 points (8g-20a) and 231 penalty minutes in 141 games. Additionally, Carrier played 10 games for Salzburg EC in Austria during the 2011-12 season.
