RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, announced that forward Logan Nelson has been signed for the 2017-18 season.
Nelson came to the Rush last season after beginning the 2016-17 campaign with the Wichita Thunder. He played in 18 games with the Thunder and contributed eight points (2g-6a) before being traded to Rapid City on Dec. 31. With the Rush, he recorded 25 points (10g-15a) in 31 games.
Originally from Rogers, Minnesota, Nelson comes back to the Rush for his fourth season of professional hockey, all of which have been played in the ECHL with the Rush, the Quad City Mallards and the Wichita Thunder. All-time in his career, Nelson has tabulated 82 points (41g-41a) in 146 games. As a rookie, Nelson skated with the Rush during the 2014 preseason before he was traded to Quad City, where he racked up 28 points in 43 games as a first-year professional. He later met the Rush in the opening round of the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs, and notched an assist in five playoff games in the eventual seven-game elimination at the hands of the Rush.
Prior to turning pro, Nelson played three seasons for the Western Hockey League's Victoria Royals, where he piled up 159 points (60g-99a) in 179 games, and was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
