Cincinnati, Ohio -The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans and the National Hockey League's Buffalo Sabres, have re-signed forward Dominic Zombo for the 2017-18 season.
Hailing from Ballwin, Mo., Zombo ranked ninth on the team in scoring last season, accounting for 23 points (12g-11a) in 63 games. He had multi-point efforts on two occasions, and his best stretch offensively came in January where he accounted for six points (2g-4a) over six games from January 20-28.
Zombo spent his rookie season in Toledo in 2015-16, appearing in 69 games with the Walleye and accounting for 26 points (10g-16a) along with 36 penalty minutes. He helped Toledo to a first-place finish in the Eastern Conference that season, and appeared in five playoff games where he dished out a pair of assists. The Walleye fell to the Reading Royals in the first round, 4 games to 3.
Prior to his time in Toledo, Zombo was a four-year letter winner for the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he served as an alternate captain during his junior season of 2013-14, and was named team captain the following year during his senior season. He appeared in 137 games over four seasons with the Mavericks where he totaled 80 points (30g-50a). Before his collegiate days, Zombo played his junior hockey for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League, recording 57 points (28g-29a) in 111 games over parts of three seasons.
