Ryan Olsen's second goal of the night 7:14 into overtime gave the Colorado Eagles a 5-4 win in Game 3 of the 2018 Kelly Cup Finals on Wednesday at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. The Eagles lead the best-of-seven series 2 games to 1.
A wild first period saw the teams combine for six goals and a 3-3 tie through 20 minutes of play. Florida struck first on a Matt Mackenzie power-play tally 3:09 into the period before Colorado recorded the next three tallies on goals from Matt Garbowsky, Michael Joly and Travis Barron. The Everblades pulled within one on a Brett Bulmer tally at 16:00 and tied the score at 19:48 on a goal from John McCarron.
The Everblades went back on top 5:29 into the second period on a shorthanded tally from Stephen MacAulay, who beat Eagles' goaltender Joe Cannata after a centering pass from Spencer Smallman.
Colorado tied the game 4-4 at the 10:50 mark of the third period when Olsen was able to redirect a shot past Florida goaltender Martin Ouellette.
Colorado improves to 7-1 in overtime during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The seven wins are the most in a single postseason in ECHL history.
