Captain Chouinard back with Americans

Allen Texas – The Allen Americans announced the club has signed defenseman Joel Chouinard to a contract for the 2018-19 season.

Chouinard returns for a third year with Allen. He was named the Americans' captain last season and went on to post 51 points (12g-39a) in 72 games.

The 28-year-old has played in all 72 games both years with the club. He’s a cumulative +69 in two seasons with Allen and finished as the ECHL Plus Performer of the Year in 2017 with a +47.

The native of Sherbrooke, Quebec was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round (167th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He played his junior hockey with the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2007-10.
