Doherty set for return to Monarchs

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and General Manager Doug Christiansen announced that the Monarchs have re-signed Michael Doherty for the 2018-19 season.

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.

Doherty, 24, returns to the Monarchs after playing 68 games in Manchester during his first professional season in 2017-18. Doherty recorded 44 points (20g-24a) while racking up 42 penalty minutes.

The native of Reading, Massachusetts played four seasons at Yale University from 2013-17. During his collegiate career he played in 115 games and recorded 67 points (30g-37a) while racking up 65 penalty minutes.
