ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Solar Bears have agreed to terms with rookie goaltender Corbin Boes for the 2018-19 season.
Boes, 24, will begin his first season of professional hockey after wrapping up a four-year career with the Dalhousie University Tigers of the Canadian USports system. He was a workhorse in goal for the Tigers last season, as his 1,649 minutes played and 866 saves led the nation, and helped him earn a spot on the Atlantic University Sport Second Team All-Star squad. Boes appeared in 28 games for Dalhousie during the 2017-18 campaign and posted a 9-19-0 record with a 3.13 goals-against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.
Boes was also named an AUS First Team All-Star in 2015-16 and was part of the 2014-15 AUS All-Rookie Team. In 88 career games with Dalhousie, Boes posted a 28-58-0 record with a 3.16 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and four shutouts.
Prior to playing for Dalhousie, the native of Winnipeg, Manitoba played four seasons of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Brandon Wheat Kings, Lethbridge Hurricanes and Portland Winterhawks. In 168 WHL games, Boes went 64-70-19 with a 3.41 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage and three shutouts. Boes was coached by Solar Bears' Head Coach Drake Berehowsky during the 2013-14 season with Lethbridge.
