Foget, Shmyr agree to terms with Americans

Foget, Shmyr agree to terms with Americans

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild, announced that the team has signed forwards Mathieu Foget and Braylon Shmyr for the 2018-2019 season.

Both rookie forwards made an immediate impact on the Allen roster, joining the Americans late last season from major junior hockey in Canada.

Foget played in two games with the Americans last season, netting one goal, which was a game-winner in overtime against Idaho. The resident of Orleans, Ontario played his junior hockey with the Mississauga Steelheads and Ottawa 67’s. He had 38 points in 31 games last year with Mississauga.    

Shmyr played in nine games with the Americans last season and had four points (2g-2a). He added five points in seven postseason games with the club. The Calgary, Alberta native played in 72 games in 2017-18 with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League and had 88 points (37g-51a).
