The Florida Everblades defeated the Jacksonville Icemen 5-1 on Monday in Game 6 of their South Division Semifinals series at Hertz Arena to advance to the South Division Finals for the third consecutive season.
Florida will meet Orlando, a 4 games to 1 winner over South Carolina, in the second round for the second consecutive year. The Everblades prevailed in five games last season on their way to reaching the Kelly Cup Finals
With the score tied 1-1 after one period, the Everblades broke the game open with four goals in a 3:13 span early in the second period. Nathan Perkovich paced the Florida offense with three points (0g-3a) while Blake Winiecki added pair of goals.
Winiecki led Florida in the series with five goals and shared the team lead with John McCarron (3g-5a) and Ben Masella (2g-6a) with eight points each.
The Icemen were led by Maxime Fortier, who had four goals and seven points in the six games.
