Koppanen makes NHL debut

Koppanen makes NHL debut

Former Atlanta Gladiators' forward Joona Koppanen became the 734th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Boston Bruins on Thursday against Seattle.

Koppanen is the seventh former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2022-23 season. He recorded six points (1g-5a) in 12 games with Atlanta during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

A fifth-round selection (135th overall) of the Bruins in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Koppanen has posted 77 points (32g-45a) in 215 career American Hockey League games with Providence.
