Johnstone tallied 21 points (7g-14a) in 58 regular-season games with the Growlers in 2021-22 before adding eight points (4g-4a) in 19 contests during the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

A native of Cranford, New Jersey, Johnstone has recorded 27 points (11g-16a) in 94 career games in the American Hockey League with Toronto and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
