GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Adirondack Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils and American Hockey League's Utica Comets, have announced that the club has signed defenseman Jimmy Dowd Jr. to a contract for the 2025-26 season.

Dowd Jr., 25, just finished his fifth season at Penn State University where he served as the team’s alternate captain during the 2024-25 campaign. In 150 games with the Nittany Lions, the Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey native recorded 73 points (12g-61a). He attended New Jersey Devils Development Camp this past June.

Prior to his collegiate career, Dowd. Jr. played two seasons with the United States Hockey League’s Chicago Steel and served as the team’s alternate captain during the 2019-20 season.

Dowd's father, Jim, played in 728 career NHL games from 1991-2008, capturing a Stanley Cup title with the Devils in 1995.
