Sean Bonar of the Atlanta Gladiators has been named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3. It is the second time in the last three weeks that he has received the weekly honor.
Bonar went 3-0-0 with one shutout, a 1.33 goals-against average and a save percentage of .949 in three appearances last week.
The 27-year-old stopped all 27 shots he faced in a 4-0 win against Greenville on Wednesday, made 29 saves in a 2-1 victory over Florida on Thursday and turned aside 30 shots in a 4-3 win against Orlando on Saturday.
A native of Delta, British Columbia, Bonar has posted a 11-8-2 record in 22 appearances with the Gladiators this season. He is tied for second in the ECHL with three shutouts, ranks fourth with a 2.21 goals-against average and is tied for fourth with a .926 save percentage. .
Bonar, who also was named ECHL Goaltender of the Month for January, has seen action in 7 5 career ECHL games with Atlanta, Brampton, Fort Wayne, Wichita, Indy and Orlando compiling an overall record of 31-30-7 with six shutouts, a 2.66 goals-against average and a save percentage of .915 . He also has 70 games of experience in the Southern Professional Hockey League with Fayetteville and Pensacola.
Prior to turning pro, Bonar appeared in 63 career games at Princeton University and 60 career games with Penticton of the British Columbia Hockey League.
