Americans welcome back Asuchak, Owen

Americans welcome back Asuchak, Owen

ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans announced the team has re-signed forward Spencer Asuchak and defenseman Ben Owen for the 2019-20 season.

This will be Asuchak’s seventh season wiht the Americans. He first joined Allen in 2013 as a rookie, and finished runner-up to teammate Alex Lavoie for Central Hockey Leagje Rookie of the Year with 56 points in 66 games. He enjoyed his best season with Allen in 2016-17 when he had 66 points in 64 games.

The Kamloops, British Columbia native has played in 60 games in the American Hockey League with Providence, Chicago, Worcester, Chicago and San Jose. Prior to turning prio, Asuchak played his junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans and Prince George Cougars.

Owen, a local player who went to Allen High School for two years, joined the Americans late last season, playing in six games and posting two points. Previous to his time in Allen, he played in 43 games for the Evansville Thunderbolts of the Southern Professional Hockey League, where he had 13 points and 10 penalty minutes.
