Duluth, Ga. – The Atlanta Gladiators announced the team has signed defenseman Cody Corbett for the 2019-20 season.
The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Boston Bruins and the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins.
In 2011-12, Corbett helped the Edmonton Oil Kings win the Western Hockey League championship and during the 2013-14 season, he was not only named to the Canadian Hockey League Memorial Cup All-Star Team but was a dual champion winning the CHL Memorial Cup and won the WHL championship. During the postseason that year he totaled 13 points (6g-7a) in 21 playoff games.
In the 2014-15 season, he made his pro debut with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters, and the following season, he suited up with the San Antonio Rampage while also seeing time in the ECHL with the Fort Wayne Komets.
In the 2016-17 season, he returned to Rampage, then finished the season back in the ECHL splitting time between the Colorado Eagles and the South Carolina Stingrays. He helped the Stingrays to the Kelly Cup Finals, totaling d nine points (1g-8a) in 21 postseason games. In 2017-18, he saw time with the Idaho Steelheads along with Orli Znojmo, a team based in the Czech Republic.
Last season, Corbett played for Italy's Pustertal/Val Pusteria of the AlpsHL, a league made up of teams from Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. He went to the playoffs for the second time in his career, chipping in nine points (2g-7a) in 16 games.
