Merasty signs with Swamp Rabbits

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Greenville Swamp Rabbits announed the team has signed forward Shaquille Merastycontract for the 2019–20 season.

The Swamp Rabbits are the ECHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League and the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Merasty, entering his third pro season, put up 25 points (10g-15a) to go along with 184 penalty minutes in 58 games with Rapid City and Orlando last season. It extended far beyond his prior performance, with 12 points (5g-7a) in 28 games with Wichita and Rapid City the year prior.His mix of toughness and skill was put on display throughout his career, dating back through his time in the Canadian college circuit with the University of Manitoba, Division III Adrian College, and with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Portage Terriers.
