Phillips bolsters Rush blue line

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes, announced that defenseman Trey Phillips has been signed by the team for the 2019-20 season.

Phillips comes to the Rush after totaling 11 points (3g-8a) in 42 games with Jacksonville and Fort Wayne in his rookie season. He completed his inaugural professional campaign in the Australian Ice Hockey League as a member of the Newcastle Northstars, earning 19 points (5g-13a) in 15 contests.

Hailing from Okotoks, Alberta, Phillips joined the professional ranks of hockey following a four-year stay with the University of Vermont where he tallied 15 points (4g-11a) in 100 career games. Before his college hockey career began, Phillips spent five seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Canmore Eagles.  He earned 119 points in 200 games, and in 2014 led AJHL defensemen with 65 points while earning accodlades as AJHL Most Outstanding Defenseman and Most Valuable Player.
