Coughlin returns to Mariners

PORTLAND, Maine – Defenseman Johnny Coughlin has agreed to a contract with the Maine Mariners for the 2019-20 season.

The Mariners are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Rangers and the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack.

Originally from Fairport, New York, Coughlin played prep hockey for two years with the Trinity-Pawling School (Pawling, NY) - where he was Captain in 2013-14, before playing a season of juniors with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbua Hockey League. In 2015-16, he began his college career at Holy Cross.

Coughlin played at least 35 games in all four seasons at Holy Cross. In his senior season, he led all Crusaders defensemen in scoring, with 21 points, which was also good for secpnd overall on the team. Coughlin put up double-figure point numbers in all four of his college seasons.

After completing his senior season, Coughlin signed with the Mariners to finish the 2018-19 season, appearing in 10 games.
