Americans sign Shmyr

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, announced today the team has signed left wing forward Braylon Shmyr to a contact for the 2020-21 season.

Shmyr returns to Allen after finishing the 2019-20 season in Europe with the Guildford Flames of the Elite Ice Hockey League, posting 12 points (6g-6a) in 15 games. He began the season by skating in 19 ECHL games with Norfolk and Jacksonville in the ECHL, and three American Hockey League games with Springfield and San Antonio.

The 23-year-old previously skated in 73 games with the Americans during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, recording 48 points (22g-26a).

Prior to turning pro, Shmyr played six years in the Western Hockey League. His best season in major junior hockey came in 2017-18 when he had 88 points (37g-51a) in 72 games with the Saskatoon Blades.
