GREENVILLE, S.C. — DefensemanJimmy Mazza, who was acquired in a future considerations deal from the Reading Royals on June 12, has signed a contract with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the 2020–21 season.Mazza, out of Kings Park, New York, has spent his entire pro career out of Canisius College with the Royals. This past season, shortened due to injury, he posted an assist in 17 games.At Canisius, he was one of the Golden Griffins' best scoring defensemen. He ranks fourth all-time in scoring by a blueliner with 68 points (18g-50a), and was named an Atlantic Hockey All-Academic selection three times. His contributions in his sophomore season helped Canisius win the Atlantic Hockey regular-season championship.Mazza was the United States Premier Hockey League Premier Defenseman of the Year in 2014-15 with the P.A.L. Junior Islanders when he scored 49 points (16g-33a) in 50 games.
