Helgesen returns to Steelheads

BOISE, Idaho –Defenseman Kenton Helgesen has agreed to terms with the Idaho Steelheads for the 2020-21 season.

Helgesen played four games with the Steelheads during the 2019-20 season after starting the season with the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Evansville Thunderbolts. The 26-year-old has played in 120 games in the ECHL tallying 39 points (11g-28a) with Idaho, Utah, Indy, Orlando and Norfolk.

Prior to his professional career Helgesen played four seasons with the Western Hockey League's Calgary Hitmen, boasting 130 points (34g-96a) with 297 penalty minutes in 266 games and serving as team captain during his final year in 2014-15. He was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
