Worcester, Mass. – The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, announced that the club has re-signed defenseman Myles McGurty and forward Tyler Poulsen to contracts for the 2020-21 season.
McGurty is entering his third professional season. He was acquired by the Railers from the Rapid City Rush on Feb. 18, 2020 and went on to play nine games for Worcester tallying two points (1g-1a). At the time McGurty was acquired from the Rush he had played 49 games, the most by any player on the team, registering 19 points (1g-18a). The 26-year-old has skated in 83 ECHL games accumulating 25 points (2g-23a). Prior to turning pro, the Weehawken, New Jersey native spent parts of five seasons at Dalhousie University where he played 101 games amassing 41 points (8g-33a).
Poulsen is also entering his third professional season and was acquired along with McGurty in last season's trade with Rapid City. He tallied five points (4g-1a) in 10 games with the Railers last season. Poulsen had played 46 games for the Rush before joining the Railers, registering 20 points (10g-10a). The Arvada, Colorado native ranked fourth on Rapid City in scoring during his rookie year in 2018-19 tallying 30 points (15g-15a) in 57 games. Prior to turning pro, the 27-year-old spent three seasons at the University of Alabama-Huntsville where he played 88 games accumulating 38 points (15g-23a).
