TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Walleye announced the team has re-signed veteran forwards Shane Berschbach and Kyle Bonis for the 2020-21 season.
Berschbach, who holds the Walleye record for most regular-season games played with 376, tallied 63 points (20g-43a) in 56 games last season. The 28-year-old also posted his first career hat trick against the Cincinnati Cyclones on Dec. 29.In addition to representing the Walleye more times than any other player, Berschbach is the club’s regular-season career leader with 277 assists and 393 points, while tallying the most goals with 116. Berschbach also ranks among the team’s top performers in the postseason with 55 games played (T1st), 14 goals (3rd), 38 assists (1st) and 52 points (1st).
Bonis enters his sixth season with Toledo. The Lindsay, Ontario native is currently third among Walleye players for most goals with 95. In the 32 games he played for Toledo in 2019-20, he earned 24 points (12g-12a).
Bonis returned to Toledo half-way through last season after playing overseas for a year and a half. He appeared in 27 games for HKM Zvolen in Slovakia during the 2019-20 season with 23 points (17g-6a). Bonis skated in 48 games in Norway for Frisk Asker in 2018-19 where he posted 49 points (25g-24a). In his career, Bonis has also skated in 101 career American Hockey League games with 24 points (15g-9a).
