RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes, announced that veteran forward Garrett Klotz has signed with the team for the 2020-21 season.
Klotz returns to the Rush after spending the 2019-20 season with the division rival Utah Grizzlies where he tallied nine points (4g-5a) along with 73 penalty minutes in 35 games.
He previously played for the Rush for parts of two seasons from 2017-19, recording 17 points (8g-9a) in 217 penalty minutes in 50 games.
A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Klotz enters his 13th season of professional hockey. In his ECHL career, he has amassed 45 points (18g-27a) and 691 penalty minutes in 230 games with Utah, Rapid City, Elmira, Kansas City, Greenville, Wichita, Indy, Quad City and Jacksonville. Over the past 12 seasons of his career, Klotz has appeared in 543 career professional games with 101 points (42g-59a) along with 1,350 penalty minutes. In 2014 as a member of the Allen Americans, he won the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup as Central Hockey League champion.
Prior to turning pro, Klotz played three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Saskatoon Blades and the Red Deer Rebels, earning 10 points with 229 penalty minutes in 150 games. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round (66th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
