TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Oilers, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks, announced the signings of forward Gregg Burmaster and rookie defenseman Shane Switzer for the 2020-21 season.
Burmaster joins Tulsa after spending the majority of last season in the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Clinton, New York native has also played six career ECHL games, appearing in four games for the Fort Wayne Komets in 2018-19 and two games with the Norfolk Admirals last season. Burmaster notched 14 points (8g-6a) in 39 SPHL games last season with Huntsville and Quad City.
The 25-year-old began his college career at Colorado College before trasferring to Utica College for his final two seasons, compiling 72 points (30g-42a) in 55 games, captaining the team in his senior season.
Switzer comes to Tulsa for his first pro season. He began his collegiate career in 2015-16 with Boston University, appearing in 31 games for the Terriers over three seasons before closing out his college career last season at the University of Michigan.
The Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native played his junior hockey in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Switzer began his AJHL career playing with the Brooks Bandits, registering 18 points (6g-12a) in 35 games before a trade sent him to the Lloydminster Bobcats, where he tallied 16 points (2g-14a) in 17 games.
