Lorentz makes NHL debut

Former Florida Everblades' forward Steven Lorentz became the 684th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday against Tampa Bay.

Lorentz is the sixth former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2020-21 season. He posted 63 points (22g-41a) in 84 games with the Everblades from 2017-19 while adding 10 points (5g-5a) in 19 games during the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

A seventh-round selection (186th overall) of the Hurricanes in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft,  Lorentz has tallied 55 points (26g-29a) in 93 career American Hockey League games with Charlotte.
