Meloche makes NHL debut

Former Colorado Eagles' defenseman Nicolas Meloche became the 680th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the San Jose Sharks on Thursday against Arizona.

Melcohe is the second former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2020-21 season. He scored one goal in five regular-season games with Colorado during the 2017-18 season before adding six points (1g-5a) in 24 postseason contests, as the Eagles captured their second consecutive Kelly Cup title. Meloche becomes the 44th player whose name is engraved on the Kelly Cup to play in the NHL.

A second-round selection (40th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Meloche has posted 45 points (11g-34a) in 154 career American Hockey League games with Colorado and San Jose.
