Wichita brings back Ross

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks and American Hockey League's San Jose Barracuda, announced that goaltender Roddy Ross has been re-signed for the 2025-26 season. 

Ross, 24, joined the Thunder this past March at the conclusion of his college season. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native went 2-1-0 with a 1.65 goals-against average and .957 save percentage. 

He played a four-year collegiate career at the University of Saskatchewan. Ross finished his college career with a 37-15-4 record to go with a 2.37 goals-against average and .928 save percentage. He went 10-4-0 this past season with a s1.99 goals-against average and .928 save percentage. 

Ross was selected in the sixth round (169th overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He also represented Team Canada in the FISU World University Games in 2023 and won a gold medal. 

Prior to college, Ross played three years in the Western Hockey League with Seattle and Regina. His best season came in 2018-19 with the Thunderbirds, going 16-5-2 with a 2.76 goals-against average and .919 save percentage. 

He was recognized as the Canada West Goaltender of the Year and honored with the Indigenous Achievement Award. Other awards that Ross racked up last year include Canada West Best Team goals-against average, First All-Star Team and All-Canadian Second Team.
