Willms rejoins Walleye

TOLEDO, Ohio – Forward Jason Willms signs for his first full ECHL season and second overall in Toledo after agreeing to terms for the 2026-27 season.

Willms, of Kitchener, Ontario, comes back to the Walleye after spending the 2024-25 season in Europe, and not playing last season. The 27-year-old split his 2024-25 season between two teams, posting four points (1g-3a) in 16 games with the Vienna Capitals of the ICEHL, and then five points (1g-4a) 17 games with the Herlev Eagles in Denmark. He made his pro debut with the Walleye during the 2023-24 season following his collegiate season, tallying posting six points (1g-5a) in seven games, followed by four points (1g-3a) in 14 playoff games.

Prior to turning pro, he played in three seasons at the University of New Brunswick, tallying 76 points (35g-41a) in 84 games, including serving as team captain as a senior. He also skated in four Ontario Hockey League seasons, collecting 181 points (82g-99a) in 264 games between Barrie and London. He served as Barrie’s captain for a season and a half, beginning in 2018-19 and continuing through his trade to London the following year.
