Best back with Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's San Jose Sharks and American Hockey League's San Jose Barracuda, announced that forward Gavin Best has re-signed for the 2026-27 season. 

Best, 24, joined the Thunder this past March and tallied 11 points (5g-6a) in 17 games. 

He turned pro after playing a four-year collegiate career split between Michigan State and Ferris State University. Best was named captain for the Bulldogs during his senior campaign and finished with a career-best 26 points (12g-14a). Overall, he tallied 45 points (22g-23a) in 85 games.

Best had a solid junior career, playing two seasons for the North American Hockey League's Minnesota Magicians. He recorded 54 points (20g-34a) in 59 games in 2021-22 and was also an alternate captain.
